The assets involved are the Ełk and Turośń Kościelna projects. Each site delivers 200 MW of power and 800 MWh of storage capacity — allowing a full-power discharge for roughly four hours — meaning the combined portfolio totals 400 MW and 1.6 GWh. Both projects were completed in Q3 2026 and have secured the necessary permits for operation.
Both Ełk and Turośń have been awarded 17-year capacity market contracts in Poland, commencing in 2028. Under these agreements, each asset will receive a fixed payment in return for making 85% of its rated capacity available to the system. In addition, each project is covered by a 10-year tolling agreement intended to optimise battery dispatch and monetise their flexibility in power markets.
Founded in 2005, A&R Investments is an investment vehicle that manages a diversified portfolio of private and public investments directly and through external fund managers. A&R said the two Polish BESS projects are "an important addition to our portfolio and an opportunity to invest in large-scale battery storage assets in Poland."
João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, underlined the group’s commitment to battery storage: “We have one of the largest battery storage pipelines in Europe, have built strong expertise in developing these assets and will continue investing in this sector. The need for storage capacity and flexibility is growing rapidly, and this transaction confirms that high-quality BESS projects meet a clear market need and attract investor interest.”
Weronika Nowak, CEO of Greenvolt Power, highlighted the company’s delivery capabilities: “Ełk and Turośń demonstrate Greenvolt Power’s ability to take complex, large-scale battery storage projects from development to completion. Poland is a strategic market for us and a key driver of our growth in Central Europe, where we will continue to deliver projects that meet the evolving needs of the energy system.”
Greenvolt Power currently manages a BESS pipeline of approximately 4.6 GW across its markets. The sale of Ełk and Turośń is part of Greenvolt’s asset rotation strategy, which plans to divest roughly 70–80% of internally developed projects to realise value from development activities and recycle capital into new investments.
Greenvolt, part of KKR's portfolio, is a 100% renewable energy group operating in 20 geographies across Europe, North America and Asia. The Group operates across three core areas: Sustainable Biomass (Greenvolt Biomass) with seven power plants in Portugal and the UK producing energy from forest residues and urban waste wood; Utility-Scale (Greenvolt Power) developing large-scale wind, solar PV and storage projects with a total pipeline of 12.7 GW; and Distributed Generation (Greenvolt Next) providing B2B solar PV installation, maintenance and financing, electric mobility, LED, rooftops, carports and batteries, with over 1 GW of signed capacity across 12 European geographies.
Greenvolt Power, the Utility-Scale division of Greenvolt Group, specialises in onshore wind, solar and energy storage and offers development, financing, construction, operation and asset management services for large projects. The company reports a probability-weighted pipeline of 12.7 GW, of which 6.0 GW are at least RTB or sold, and is among the world’s leading BESS developers with a ~4.6 GW pipeline.
