Orange is once again the fastest mobile and fibre network in Romania, according to the latest ANCOM report. Following Netograf measurements, the operator once again achieved the highest average speeds for both mobile data (97 Mbps for downloads and 28 Mbps for uploads) and fixed internet services (593 Mbps for downloads and 554 Mbps for uploads), for the ninth consecutive year. This confirms Orange's leadership on service experience delivered to customers and ongoing investments in cutting-edge network technology, which were also demonstrated through the premieres delivered at this summer's biggest festivals.
The National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications has published the new edition of the Netograf report, which reconfirms Orange Romania's position as the leader in terms of speed. The company offers the fastest internet for both residential customers – 2.1 Gbps – and the business environment – 10 Gbps. At the same time, it is the only network in Romania offering the real capabilities of 5G/5G+ technology, with speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps. 5G/5G+ coverage is constantly expanding, currently available in 138 cities and surrounding areas.
The speeds consistently supported by the latest technologies contributed this summer to preparing the future of telecommunications in Romania. From total 5G coverage in cities to the "temporary cities" that are created during festivals and large-scale events, Orange has once again demonstrated that it brings cutting-edge infrastructure wherever people need it.
As recently announced, Orange implemented and provided connectivity at the summer's biggest events, from Beach, Please!, Summer Well, Untold, and the major concerts on the National Arena, to the new Nibiru resort on the coast or the BIAS aviation Air Show. For each of these events, infrastructure suitable for a medium-sized city was built: kilometres of fibre optic cable, dozens of mobile antennas, hundreds of Wi-Fi access points, and other equipment. At the most crowded event where Orange was a partner, the network simultaneously supported over 146,000 connected users.
"The fact that we offer the highest speeds for both mobile and fixed internet is both a source of pride and the result of our ongoing commitment to supporting Romania's technological future. The ANCOM study is the gold standard for measurement and we are proud for this achievement for the ninth consecutive year. These results also confirm that we don't just look at the numbers from a speed test, but at how connectivity can improve everyone's lives. Orange transformed this summer's festivals into 'digital cities,' demonstrating that innovation is not just about technology, but about always being where our customers need us," said Julien Ducarroz, CEO of Orange Romania.
The most important novelty at this summer's festivals, also linked to the sustained performance of Orange's networks, is 5G Standalone. This new technology was successfully tested by the company for the first time in Romania at the major concerts held in Bucharest, followed by Beach, Please!, Untold, and Summer Well. Through 5G Standalone solutions, stable and uninterrupted operational connectivity was ensured for authorities, organizers, and their partners. Thanks to Network Slicing technology, essential services — such as payment systems, video broadcasts, monitoring, operational coordination, video communications, or other critical services — benefited from a dedicated network, independent of traffic generated by other users. At the same time, the first test of 5G Standalone technology for residential customers was also conducted.
Additionally, Orange is the only network in Romania using the real capabilities of 5G/5G+ technology, through the new series of subscriptions with access to Fast Track 5G+ technology. These offer a premium internet browsing experience, with a maximum speed of 1,500 Mbps, for those with intensive usage needs anywhere 5G+ coverage exists, whether it's streaming and gaming or large downloads.
