On August 29, Elis Pavaje organized the 18th edition of Cupa Elis, an event that has become a tradition for the amateur golf community in Romania. Set in an exceptional location at the Theodora Golf Club in Alba County, 92 amateur golfers gathered for a day of competition, fair play, and networking.
This year's edition marked a special milestone for the company, as Elis celebrates 35 years of activity in 2026. The organizers designed the entire experience around the theme "Inspired by Art," stemming from the idea that things created with passion, consistency, and vision—be it a work of art, a strong brand, or a champion's swing—do not merely withstand the test of time, but grow more valuable with each passing year.
The competition was played in 4-member teams, and a total of 17 trophies were awarded at the end of the day: 3 team awards, 3 individual prizes, and 2 special distinctions, Nearest to the Pin and Nearest to the Line, the latter being an exclusive trophy awarded by Elis Pavaje.

"Cupa Elis has grown year after year, just like our company: with patience, attention to detail, and the joy of doing things right. This year, as we celebrate 35 years of Elis, it felt natural to tie our story to the idea that lasting things—whether we talk about art, a business, or a well-practiced swing—gain value precisely because they are built over time with consistency. Golf as a passionate player has taught me exactly this: patience and discipline beat rushing every single time. I encourage everyone to try golf, as it is an extraordinary sport, and once you start, you can't leave it behind. We warmly welcome everyone into our community," said Emil Goța, General Manager of Elis Pavaje.
"Bobby Jones, one of the greatest amateur golfers in history, used to say that you must play the ball where it lies, not where you wish it were. I believe that is also the definition of entrepreneurship: the journey is never smooth, unexpected obstacles arise, and the wind doesn't always blow from the right direction. The difference between a good player and a great one—just like between a good entrepreneur and a great one—lies in the ability to keep playing from where the ball landed. At Cupa Elis, we find precisely this community: people who know how to do just that," said Petru Ciurtin, Retail Zonal Director at BCR, main partner of Cupa Elis.

Through events like Cupa Elis, the amateur golf community in Romania continues to expand year after year, giving the sport the visibility it deserves. It is also a discipline that sharpens focus and agility alongside patience and discipline—qualities developed with every round played.
For Elis Pavaje, promoting golf is not an occasional commitment, but part of a broader mission: building a culture of quality and community around healthy values.
For this reason, starting last year, Elis Pavaje has been supporting Eric Sylveszter, an 18-year-old golf champion. He discovered the sport by chance at age 9 and became passionate about it, despite no one in his family playing golf. In nearly a decade since, he has assembled an impressive record: 1st place in the National Junior Championship (2022, 2023) and Senior Championship (2024), 1st place in the National League (2024), as well as international results, including 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the Serbian Amateur Tour in the U21 category. Eric actively participates in amateur tournaments like Cupa Elis and supports the development of the sport.

"Amateur tournaments are crucial both for individual players and for the growth of this sport in Romania. Personally, they played a key role in my personal and professional development. I learned to manage my emotions under pressure and in daily life, becoming more balanced. For me, golf tournaments are more than practice because different situations arise that I probably wouldn't have trained for on my own. This way, I learn from mistakes and improve with every tournament," says Eric Sylveszter, who aims to continue playing golf while pursuing his studies in the United States, with the goal of turning professional.
Cupa Elis Pavaje was organized with the support of main partner BCR, alongside Crama de Matei, Garden Depot, Șosetăria, Pater, and Transalpina.
