In the seven months since the instrument was launched, BRD has provided financing to more than 200 small and medium-sized enterprises in Romania through BID-guaranteed solutions. This uptake highlights entrepreneurs' interest in tools that ease access to credit and support development projects tailored to each company's profile.
The additional act allows eligible SMEs to use financing for both investment projects and working capital, including revolving facilities tailored to the dynamics of their operations and cash flows.
Financing can support the purchase of equipment and machinery, software solutions, production spaces, modernization works and increases in operational capacity. For current needs, companies may finance the purchase of raw materials and goods, inventory management and other expenses necessary for carrying out their activities.

The more than 200 SMEs financed in the first seven months since the instrument's launch confirm the relevance of the solution for Romanian companies. The portfolio shows sectoral, geographic and beneficiary-profile diversification, with the main financed sectors being construction, including road and highway construction, furniture manufacturing and trade, and road freight transport.
From a geographic perspective, the North-East Region ranks first, followed by the West Region and Bucharest-Ilfov. The portfolio includes beneficiaries of varying sizes.
At the same time, the financed projects comply with the “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH) principle, which ensures supported activities do not cause significant harm to environmental objectives. Integrating this criterion into the financing process aligns with BRD's strategy to support companies' transition to more sustainable business models and, over the longer term, the shift to a lower-carbon economy.
By extending the Convention, BRD aims to make the BID guarantee more accessible to entrepreneurs who invest, expand production capacity or need liquidity for current operations. Financing is available to eligible SMEs and is granted following BRD's assessment, in compliance with the program's criteria and the applicable framework.
Through this partnership, BRD and BID support turning entrepreneurial plans into investments with lasting economic impact.
