GapMinder, venture capital investing in technology startups from Romania and Eastern Europe, is leading a seed funding round in Croatian healthtech startup Lasken AI, alongside Fil Rouge Capital. Lasken AI is building a healthcare data intelligence platform that transforms publicly available healthcare information into continuously updated, structured datasets for pharmaceutical companies and healthcare organizations. Funding will support the expansion of Lasken AI’s proprietary healthcare data platform, further product development, and commercial growth across Europe.
Lasken AI connects 400,000 healthcare organisations in Germany, millions of healthcare professionals and more than half a trillion words from publicly available healthcare sources. By the end of 2026, this foundation is expected to expand to approximately 2.5 million healthcare organisations across Europe, creating the first consistent view of healthcare markets across multiple countries while preserving local market-specificities. Lasken AI’s customers include: pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, healthtech firms, contract sales organisations, consultancies, and other service providers that rely on accurate, up-to-date market intelligence.
The investment adds to GapMinder’s growing portfolio of technology and AI-driven companies, including InsiderCX, Codeplain, Design Verse, SalesTools, VoicePatrol, and Etiq AI. With Lasken AI, GapMinder continues to expand its presence in the Croatian technology ecosystem, marking its second investment in a Croatian healthtech startup after InsiderCX.
“Healthcare is one of the largest and most complex industries in the world, yet many critical commercial decisions are still made using fragmented and outdated information. We believe Lasken AI is building the infrastructure needed to transform how healthcare organizations understand markets, identify opportunities, and engage with healthcare professionals. What stood out to us was the team’s deep healthcare expertise combined with a strong technology vision: creating a continuously evolving data foundation rather than another static database. We are excited to support their expansion across Europe and their ambition to become a key intelligence layer for the healthcare ecosystem and we are thrilled to co-invest with Fil Rouge Capital”, says Cosmin Ochișor, Partner at GapMinder.
The company was founded by Patric Jarchow and Leonard Unger, who combine decades of healthcare expertise with extensive experience in building modern technology products.
Over more than two decades, Patric Jarchow has helped pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations improve commercial decision-making through better use of data. After founding several healthcare companies, he held international leadership roles at Merck and IQVIA, where he led initiatives in commercial excellence, go-to-market strategy, and digital innovation across global healthcare organizations. Leonard Unger has spent his career building startups, digital products and bringing new technologies to the finance and healthcare industry. They founded Lasken AI with the conviction that healthcare doesn’t need more data, but a stronger foundation for better decisions.
Unlike traditional datasets that provide static snapshots of markets, Lasken AI creates a living history of healthcare ecosystems. The platform tracks how healthcare organizations, professionals, and markets evolve over time, making changes visible and measurable. Beyond data collection, Lasken AI transforms this foundation into actionable intelligence. Customers receive ready-to-use insights, including target groups, market segments, site selections, and commercial recommendations, without having to build, integrate, or maintain complex datasets themselves.
For example, pharmaceutical companies can use Lasken AI to identify the pharmacies with the highest vaccination potential by analyzing vaccination service offerings across Germany and correlating them with local demographics, disease burden, vaccination rates, and other relevant healthcare indicators. Clients can also leverage the platform to generate intelligent physician target clusters, for example, oncology practices segmented by therapy spectrum, practice characteristics, socioeconomic environment, digital affinity, and other healthcare-specific data points.
“Every day, healthcare commercial teams search for answers to critical questions: where the biggest market opportunities are, which healthcare organizations to prioritize, or which sites are best positioned for clinical trials. The challenge is that this information is scattered across thousands of websites, databases, publications, and internal systems. Our vision with Lasken AI is to build the infrastructure that makes this information usable, acting as a digital librarian that continuously collects, organizes, and updates healthcare data to provide organizations with a clear and evolving view of the market. This fund allows us to accelerate our mission across Europe and help healthcare organizations navigate increasingly complex markets”, says Patric Jarchow, Co-founder and CEO of Lasken AI.
GapMinder’s investment will support Lasken AI’s rollout in Germany, establishing a strong foundation for further growth in the coming years. The company’s initial commercial focus will be on the German healthcare market, with plans to expand into Europe’s five largest pharmaceutical markets. In the long term, Lasken AI aims to make its Healthcare Data Foundation available across the continent.
“After backing Lasken’s pre-seed round, we are pleased to see our friends at GapMinder to carry the torch. We are strong believers of the team and the product and can't wait for them to put this fresh money to growing even faster”, says Stevica Kuharski, Partner at Fil Rouge CapitaI.
The funding will also support the development of new capabilities in semantic understanding, organizational and market intelligence, persona building, and advanced commercial analytics. Lasken AI’s goal is to help healthcare organizations better understand markets, professionals, and opportunities, enabling smarter commercial decisions through a single trusted data foundation.
